A Tribute to our Founder, Father, Leader & Comrade
Melvin Schulte
October 3rd 1933 to December 11th 2022
To the man who hired hundreds of local aimless boys and girls, not only to facilitate the days business, but to set them on a path to future success, we bid a very heartfelt and sorrowful farewell.
For 64 years you came to the same shop, on the same corner, in the same town to earn a living and to support and help the residents of your community. We are all better and blessed to have had you in our lives. Your care and love for the people of our community was rarely shown in your loud and distinctive voice and gestures, but was so clearly displayed in your endless passion for keeping them safely on the road, even when they had little in the way to compensate you for your toils. Weekends, nights, long days…you did it all, never expecting anymore from an employee than you were willing to accomplish yourself.
As we carry on your legacy, we will never forget what you’ve taught us; The importance of making sure we treat every customer like family, and that we should never judge anyone because we’ve not walked in their shoes. Extend gratitude to everyone and credit to few. Fix it once and fix it right. There are far too many lessons to list here, after all 64 years of learning is a lot!! Of course, what seems to have been paramount to you was dependability; Say what you mean and do what you say! We’ll carry that torch forward to light the way in your absence.
Godspeed Mel, Dad, Grandpa and friend, may you experience “Fairwinds and Following Seas!”
